Well, some rapid set up, boarding and breakdown and fabrication is in order now, as I add new shots into the film to facilitate my updated fail safe/conservative cut plan. This version of the project is based around being shorter, and more compact, and only having long scenes with the main characters (Penny and Jake).
Boards for Fail-Safe 1
However, the film will feature updated, more prominently shown B-Roll of the chaos they (Penny and Jake ) sow through a series of quick 3 second or less shots showing the chaos (which will also be used as "Security cam footage" during the interview scenes. Each shot should be simple enough to do in one or two boards (even by animation standards) and should move very fast, perhaps letting us shoot more. They will be loud, quick, fun scenes, made to contrast with the more slow burn character driven scenes of the rest of the film (and the general structure of the project's ancillary series and spin off ideas). One of the key things I'm looking at for inspiration in terms of timing and speed for this section is Robot Chicken, here are a few parts I'm looking at in particular:
and another clip where they keep cutting to the car voltron assembling, but I'm having more trouble finding that.
I'm doing boards, break downs and fabrication for these quick scenes today, and hopefully finding a way to start animating today as well. I have some crew help from a visiting and very game friend of mine from ye olden childhood times (Holler at ya, Sean!), and hopefully things will go well.
